Rajiv Gandhi Airport gets clearance from Union Ministry of Civil Aviation to levy UDF from all domestic outbound passengers
Consequent to the approval received from the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA), GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd, the developer and operator of the new Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad, Hyderabad will be levying a User Development Fee (UDF) INR375/- per head, to all domestic outbound passengers.

 

The fee shall be applicable wef 0001 hrs, 22-Aug-08.The UDF will be collected at the Airport before issue of boarding pass from all those passengers who have not been charged UDF as a part of the ticket issued to them by the Airlines/Agents. Passengers are requested to pay the UDF at the counters before proceeding for check–in. The departing passengers will have the choice to pay either in Cash or Credit/Debit Card.

Mr. Viswanath Attaluri, Chief Commercial Officer, GMR HIAL, said that the levy of UDF has become necessary in view of the huge investments made by the GMR-led consortium for creating the world-class facilities for the passengers who use the Greenfield airport. The company has developed the first phase of the airport with an investment of INR2,478 crore.

He further adds that the charging of UDF is a common feature levied globally on all Greenfield airports.

He also said that, the collection of UDF is as per the business plan approved by Union Ministry of Civil Aviation prior commissioning of airport operations and as per the terms and conditions in the financial closure of the project.
