Air Sahara confirmed (28-Aug-06) a previous order for ten B737-800s with blended winglets (placed in 1Q06) are scheduled for delivery from mid-09 to 2011.
The carrier did not state how it plans to fund the acquisition of the aircraft, which will be used on both domestic and international routes. Meanwhile, the carrier recently added its 19th B737-400 and will take delivery of one more in Sep-06. Earlier this month, the carrier announced plans to launch services to 14 new destinations, including Dhaka, Guangzhou and Male. Meanwhile, on 01-Sep-06 the carrier announced plans to order at least 30 additional B737NGs. The carrier plans to expand its fleet from 27 currently to approximately 75 aircraft in the next five years, however Air Sahara did not disclose what method(s) of financing it plans to use for the aircraft acquisition. |
