View More Indian Airlines News Alliance Air would continue to operate with its existing fleet of six ATR and B737 aircraft. The aircraft are scheduled for delivery from Sep-06. Meanwhile, Indian Airlines confirmed plans to lease 17 aircraft in the next few months, until it receives its new fleet of 43 Airbus aircraft, scheduled for delivery from Sep-06. Three A319s would reportedly be leased by Dec-05 and two more by Apr-06, to be deployed on domestic routes. A further 12 wide body aircraft would be leased to boost international operations, including services to the UK, the US, Australia and Canada from 2006. Central Government has already approved Indian Airlines to operate services to Australia, the US and the UK. In regards to its new fleet of 43 Airbus aircraft, Indian Airlines announced it awarded CFM International a contract to supply and install CFM56 engines in all 43 aircraft, replacing its engine supplier of 15 years, International Aero Engines. Indian Airlines currently operates services to 18 international destinations, including Dubai, Sharjah, Bahrain, Kuwait, Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and the SAARC countries and 54 domestic destinations, with a fleet of 67 aircraft. |
