Indian Airlines to expand domestic fleet with leased A320s
Indian Airlines invited (22 May) global tenders for the dry-lease of ten A320s powered by V2500A1 or CFM56-5B engines, for delivery between October 2005 and March 2006.

The aircraft will be deployed on domestic, Southeast Asia and Gulf services. Bids are due by 15 June.

Meanwhile, Indian Airlines long-awaited proposal to acquire 43 Airbus aircraft will be put to the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) in June 2005 for approval. The airlines Board approved the proposal in March 2002 and the Public Investment Board (PIB) cleared the acquisition in late 2004.
