Cochin to construct perishable cargo facility

Cochin International Airport Ltd (CIAL) and Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority signed (12-Sep-06) an MoU to construct a USD5.4 million perishable cargo centre at Cochin International Airport.
Construction of the centre, expected to be completed by Mar-07, has already commenced and when complete, is expected to handle 25,000 tonnes of cargo p/a. Meanwhile, CIAL announced (19-Sep-06) it is establishing an IT park, and has appointed Ernst & Young to prepare a detailed study of the proposal. CIAL has earmarked 35 acres of land adjacent to the airport for the proposed park and would invest up to USD22 million in the project. |
