Bangalore awards cargo contracts

Singapore Airport Terminal Services/Air India and Menzies Aviation/Bobba Group were awarded two 20-year contracts for the design, construction, financing and operation of cargo facilities. The projects are expected to cost a combined total of INR1.5 billion.

Bangalore International Airport is scheduled to commence operations in Apr-08, while it is expected that cargo traffic at Bangalore will triple in the next ten years from the current annual throughput of 120,000 tonnes. Meanwhile, BIAL announced plans to employ 80 personnel by Dec-06, and 300 by Apr-08 when the airport will commence operations.
