Boeing and Airbus to outsource aerospace systems works to India
Boeing and Airbus announced (06-Dec-05) plans to outsource USD3 billion worth of aerospace systems works to India, upon finalisation of the deal to supply 111 aircraft to Air India and Indian Airlines.

Central Government has already cleared Indian Airlines USD2.2 billion plans to acquire 43 Airbus aircraft, while Air India is currently awaiting approval from the government for its USD8 billion order for 68 Boeing aircraft.

Boeing stated plans to invest USD100 million to establish an MRO facility in either New Delhi or Thiruvananthapuram, as part of Air Indias INR350 billion fleet acquisition programme. Boeing also plans to invest USD75 million to establish up to four training simulators and invest USD10 million for training and other civil aviation requirements.

Meanwhile, Boeing and Airbus are reportedly in discussions with Maharashtra State Government in regards to investing INR15 billion to establish an MRO centre in Nagpur. The proposed facility would form part of the upcoming multi-modal logistics hub at Nagpur Airport. Air India is also investing INR500 million to establish an MRO centre in Thiruvananthapuram.
