Alpha Airports signs airport retail and F&B JV with Pantaloon

Alpha Airports Group signed (03-Oct-06) an MoU to form a JV with Pantaloon Retail (India) Ltd (part of the Future Group of India) to develop retail and F&B businesses at major Indian airports.
The JV is considering opportunities at Bangalore, Hyderabad and Delhi airports, with Mumbai expected to issue RFPs shortly. Pantaloon Retail Director, Rakesh Biyani, stated, opportunities at Indian airports are endless and we are delighted to tie up with Alpha. Alpha has operated in India since 2002 with duty free outlets at Cochin International Airport and since 1996 at airports in Nepal and Sri Lanka. Alpha also plans to enter flight catering businesses in India and has sought approval from the Foreign Investment Promotion Board to establish a wholly-owned subsidiary with investment of USD5 million. |
