Indian Airlines expands network
Indian Airlines confirmed plans to launch 28 new weekly frequencies to destinations in Southeast Asia under its expanded Summer 2005 schedule.

The airline will operate a total of 38 frequencies per week to Bangkok, 33 to Singapore, 14 to Kuala Lumpur and two to Yangon.

Indian Airlines also plans to launch services to several destinations from July 2005, including Sydney and Hong Kong, Jeddah and Riyadh. The carrier also announced (16 March) plans to seek UK Government approval to launch three times weekly service to Manchester and four times weekly service to Birmingham from December 2005. Commencement dates and frequency plans for the other destinations are yet to be finalised. Indian Airlines is seeking tenders for the lease of 12 widebody aircraft, including B777/767 (extended range) and A330-200/340 aircraft.

The Indian Civil Aviation Ministry meanwhile confirmed Indian Airlines has been granted rights to operate additional services to Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and UAE (Sharjah) from Summer 2005. It has also been designated for operations to the UK and US.
