Air India Express may launch domestic services
Air India Express may eventually operate domestic services, according to a local media reports.

Meanwhile, Dubai Department of Civil Aviation has reportedly granted permission to Air India Express to operate scheduled services to Dubai. Air India Express plans to launch services on 29 April 2005.

Air India Express launched online ticket sales on 18 March, in preparation for the commencement of services. The carrier will initially operate 35 services per week with three B737-800s from Kochi, Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram, Mumbai and Delhi to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Muscat and Salalah. Air India Express proposes to expand to Bahrain, Doha, Kuwait, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok and Jakarta.

Air India Express has taken delivery of its first B737-800 with 181 economy class seats, on lease from Boullioun Aviation Services. Two more leased B737-800s would be added to the Air India Express fleet by early April, while four more would be added in January 2005. Air Indias Board has approved the acquisition of 18 B737-800s over the next two years for the low cost carrier.
