Kingfisher Airlines cancels ground handling deal with Indian
Kingfisher Airlines reportedly plans to terminate its ground handling agreement with Indian Airlines, opting to self-handle instead, subject to government approval.

Ground handling constitutes approximately 6% of the carrier's total operating costs. Currently full service carriers such as Jet Airways, Air Sahara and Indian have self-handling operations. A new ground handling policy becomes effective in India in Jan-09, permitting more competition in the sector.

Kingfisher’s existing aircraft MRO agreement with Indian will continue and both carriers would continue to share terminal space at Mumbai and Delhi.

Kingfisher operates 25 Airbus and ATR aircraft. It has orders for five A380s, five A350s, five A340s and five A330s. The deliveries of A330s are expected to begin in 2007, A340s in 2008 and the A380s and A350s arrive in 2010 and 2012, respectively.
