Air India has been awarded a contract by Bangladesh Biman Airlines for the overhaul/repair of Pratt & Whitney PW 4000 engines. The terms of contract also include providing on-wing support to Bimans engine fleet at Dhaka and at other stations. The period of contract is three years and the approximate value of the contract is USD20 million.
Biman's Airbus fleet is powered by Pratt & Whitney 4000 engines. The first engine has been successfully overhauled and is ready for return to the carrier.
During the financial year 2006-2007, Air India completed engine overhaul or repair of eight PW4000 engines, five CF6-50C2 engines, earning revenue of over USD2.5 million.
Air India's Engine Overhaul Department is an FAA (Federal Aviation Authority, USA) and Indian DGCA approved facility and performs third party repair/overhaul of Jet engines belonging to customers located across the globe. The current lists of our customers include:
1. Cromalloy Gas Turbine Corporation, USA 2. Chromalloy Engine management Services, USA 3. Star Aviation FZC, UAE 4. Kellstrom Industries, USA 5. Israel Aircraft Industries, Israel 6. Aviation Trading & Leasing Inc, USA
In addition to the above, the Engine Overhaul Department of Air India carries out full overhaul and repair of all PW4000 and CF6-80C2 engines installed on the leased aircraft operated by Air India. The engines are owned by various lessors like Korean Air, Singapore Airlines, Boeing Aircraft Holding Co, ALAFCO, Constitution Aircraft Leasing and Guggenheim Aviation Partners.
