The children were given an opportunity to explore a Boeing 737 aircraft parked there. The JetSpark initiative is a first-of-its-kind attempt by any airline to create a long term relationship with its future flyers. New members thereby, stand to gain numerous benefits like attractive offers on their boarding cards, a dedicated web page, and a section with a host of activities in the airlines' in-flight magazines – JetWings and Flylite. Jet Privilege members who are 12 years and above, have the opportunity to earn miles which can be redeemed for free flights for themselves. Sixty enthusiastic invited children spent more than three hours in awe of the Boeing 737-800 aircraft, learning and understanding the working of the aircraft. The young guests were also shown the interior of the aircraft, cockpit, the cargo hold and the landing gear operations. Speaking on the ‘JetSpark-Shine On’ programme, Mr. Sudheer Raghavan, Chief Commercial Officer, Jet Airways, said, “At Jet Airways, we are continually focused on creating a strong bond with all our guests. The JetSpark initiative is an attempt to connect with the young flyers of the future by being an integral part of their formative years. We are especially happy to be the first airline to offer our young Jet Privilege members this unique opportunity to experience firsthand a comprehensive maintenance operation, which should give them some in-depth understanding of how the airline operates.” The JetSpark visitors also enjoyed the sights and sounds of aircraft taking off and landing at the neighboring Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. The children thoroughly enjoyed this experience and were presented with Jet Airways merchandise and mementos. Adding to the fanfare were film personality Prachi Desai and choreographer Sandip Soparrkar, who interacted with the excited children. A quiz competition was also organized and the winners were given prizes. The children of the age group of 12 – 18 years were selected from a large database of the Jet Privilege members who spent quality time with Jet Airways. Jet Airways’ event partners in this unique initiative included – CNN, world's leading global 24-hour news network and Cartoon Network, India’s No.1 kids' television network, Sandip Soparrkar’s Ballroom Studio, Raell Padamsee’s The Academy for Creative Expressions and Lindt Premium Swiss Chocolates. Last year, as part of this programme, Jet Airways had organized several such educational and entertaining events such as, a visit to the airlines’ flight simulator base on the occasion of Children's Day, partnering with ‘NatGeo Junior Hunt’, where children were quizzed for their knowledge of travel, culture, geography, people and wildlife. Also included was a tie up with Hong Kong Tourism for hosting two young Jet Privilege members who had qualified for the trip by undertaking maximum number of flights on Jet Airways and Jetlite for a specified period. |
