DGCA report on Go Air †Patna Airport flight delay on 22-Oct-2010
Go Air had Planned operation of 3 flights on DEL-PAT-DEL sector to transfer about 450 Haj Pilgrims from Patna to Delhi on 22 October 2010 with Expected Time of Departure from Patna as 0140, 0240 & 0340 hrs respectively.

The aircraft was to operate ferry from Delhi past midnight. These operations had the approval of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) .

Due to poor visibility at Patna Airport the ferry aircraft was not dispatched from Delhi as scheduled. Airport Authority reported visibility below 800m till 0230 hours which started improving thereafter. As informed by Go Air, because of the delay, only two flights were sent to Patna to bring Haj pilgrims to Delhi. The scheduled DEL-LKO-DEL flight was diverted from Lucknow to Patna to speedily transfer the rest of the Haj pilgrims to Delhi and ensure their onward connection from Delhi scheduled at 0900 hours. Go Air had obtained clearance from ATC and Airport Authority for this diversion, however no clearance was obtained from DGCA.

The reasons for not operating DEL-PAT- DEL and not obtaining clearance from DGCA for diverting DEL-LKO-DEL to DEL-LKO-PAT-DEL is being investigated.
