View More Pakistan International Airlines News Installation and certification testing has confirmed the functionality of the Satphone communications system, the service Tracking system and that the ISMS(TM) is receiving data from its full complement of 8 data bus channels. Dale Sparks, Chief Technology Officer, stated, "Star has experienced significant strategic changes since January 2007 and we are beginning to see the positive impact of our decisions. We are very pleased with the results of this installation and are looking forward to the trial period with PIA". Star is now preparing for the upcoming PIA trial and is expected to formally file for the Operational STC in the next several days. Once the system is activated, the evaluation will commence and it will provide PIA with a way to assess the system's capabilities and performance. In addition, Star's ISMS(TM) system will provide the Engineering and Maintenance departments with real time fault forwarding that will allow the operator to schedule parts and personnel before the aircraft lands. This saves valuable Aircraft On Ground (AOG) time to help reduce service delays and/or cancellations. It will also provide service Operations and service Safety with insights concerning FOQA (Flight Operations Quality Assurance) monitoring, which helps facilitate cost savings. A decision with respect to the purchase of ISMS(TM) units will be made by PIA after the completion of an analysis of the results from the trial evaluation. Date posted:10-Aug-07. |
