GoAir to add two new A320s and double its operations
(CAPA) GoAir is adding two new aircraft to its fleet by November 2007. As part of this expansion plan, the airline has announced that it is doubling its current flight operations from October-end.

This is part of the frequency enhancement programme that GoAir is rolling-out across its entire network. As part of this strategy, GoAir will double the overall frequency of its network by increasing its flight operations from 259 flights to 561 commercial flights per week. This expansion programme is being rolled out despite the fact that GoAir has no plans to add new destinations to its current network during this fiscal. The airline will completely focus on the 11 destinations it is currently operating in.

GoAir’s operational strategy comes in the wake of the airline consistently recording highest load factor in excess of 80% during the last few months. GoAir also recorded 123% in its passenger traffic at the close of Q2. Given the escalation in passenger volumes and the new demand generation, the airline is enhancing current flight frequencies by inducting additional flights in its existing network.

Announcing GoAir’s winter schedule and first phase roll-out of its frequency building programme, its Managing Director, Mr Jeh Wadia said, “We are bundling new weekly flights as part of our capacity expansion during the new winter schedule across our network. GoAir will now operate 177 departures from Mumbai, 130 departures from Delhi, 40 departures from Hyderabad, 49 departures from Bangalore, 36 departures from Goa, 28 departures from Jaipur, 21 departures from Ahmedabad, 27 departures from Chennai, 14 departures from Cochin every week amongst others.” The total weekly flights operated by GoAir will go up to 561. The new flights are schedule to starts operations from October 28, 2007.

GoAir will also be adding new connections within its present network. The airline has announced new flights to connect Bangalore and Hyderabad, Jaipur and Goa, Delhi and Hyderabad, Delhi and Cochin,  Goa and Bangalore, Jammu and Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi as well as Chennai and Delhi.

GoAir has also confirmed the launch of its Red Eye operations effective from the new winter schedule in October-end. The airline will operate four Red Eye flights within its current network. These four flights will ply between Mumbai to Delhi (23:10 Hours), Hyderabad to Mumbai (23:30 Hours), Mumbai to Ahmedabad (23:05 Hours) and Ahmedabad to Mumbai (00:35 Hours). Mr Wadia further confirmed that  “the expansion of our Red Eye operations will be completely driven by market requirements.”

GoAir’s new schedule will also intensify enhanced connectivity to passengers by providing additional morning and evening flights in the 11 destinations it operates  in. “We are also adding the morning, afternoon and evening connections in Mumbai and Delhi to connect the two metro cities to key business & leisure destinations like Bangalore, Goa, Hyderabad and Chennai,” affirmed Mr Wadia

The consistent escalation in passenger volumes recorded by GoAir over the last one year reflects the faith passengers have in the airline as a smart choice of travel. As a result of the growth in passenger traffic, GoAir is inducting these additional flights to provide more connectivity to its passengers as well as provide morning and evening flights in the sectors that it operates in. “Our key objective is to first ensure customer comfort and convenience rather then to add new destinations,” Mr Wadia said.

Following the roll-out of its frequency enhancement programme, GoAir plans to further consolidate its position in the 11 destinations it operates.
