India has estimated 200 million mobile phone users which is roughly 20% of our population. Deccan wishes to leverage this huge potential for simplifying air travel. With mFly, Deccan passengers will be able to book tickets any time and from practically any location and reduce dependence on debit cards/credit cards and ticketing windows.
Deccan’s m-Fly makes ticketing simple:
1. Passenger registers on Deccan website or can call up Deccan call centre (prefix city code - 39008888).
The service will become active on 5th November 2007 and can be availed by depositing money in the Deccan prepaid account - called the m-Fly Account, from any of the 35,000 Oxigen “Top up outlets” across India.
Deccan also announced its other sms-based initiatives to make flying simpler for its passengers:
Leveraging mobile phone service to simplify air travel is a milestone in India’s aviation industry. Deccan’s range of SMS-based services is unmatched by any airline.
Capt G. R. Gopinath, Executive Chairman - Deccan Aviation said, “Given that mobile phone penetration in India is higher than that of Internet and credit cards, Deccan’s sms-based flight booking and information services will empower people even in small towns and cities to plan an affordable air trip”.
