SR Technics continues to strengthen its foothold in the rapidly growing Indian market by concluding an Integrated Engine Solutions (IES) agreement with Air India, the national airline of India headquartered in Mumbai. The exclusive seven year contract covers engine services for Airbus A330-200 aircraft.
Under the new Integrated Engine Solutions (IES) agreement, SR Technics provides engine maintenance, overhaul and repair services on the Pratt & Whitney PW4168A engines on Air India’s Airbus A330-200 aircraft. The services are provided at SR Technics’ Engine Service Centre in Zurich. Air India is the first Indian operator of A330 aircraft fitted with PW4168A engines, and for this reason the contract is a milestone for Air India as well as SR Technics.
This new agreement is an addition to the Integrated Component Solutions (ICS) contract signed in October 2007. Under this ICS contract SR Technics provides full component support for Airbus A330-200 aircraft, including exchange, component maintenance, logistics and access to a consignment stock based at Mumbai, India.
In May 2007 Air India on behalf of its low-cost subsidiary Air India Express, signed engine maintenance and APU (Auxiliary Power Unit) agreements with SR Technics. Air India is the brand name of the airline operated by National Aviation Company of India Limited (NACIL), which was established when the two carriers Indian Airlines and Air India merged in June 2007. Air India is India’s national carrier, headquartered in Mumbai.
As an international airline it provides services from Mumbai to a wide range of destinations within India and all over the world. “The conclusion of this contract is a very positive development in our partnership. We’re delighted to further strengthen our relationship with India’s national carrier,” said Gerry Timoney, SR Technics’ Executive Vice President Engine Services. “The new agreement underscores the good working relationship which exists between the two companies.”
