Kingisher Airlines awards Honeywell a contract to provide Avionics, Auxiliary Power Units for the carriers A320 family.
“Kingfisher Airlines will benefit from a common configuration of world-class technological equipment on its present and future aircraft with optimized inventory management and predictable maintenance costs,” said Mike Madsen, Honeywell Vice President of Airlines. The Honeywell 131-9A APU is a small gas turbine engine that provides compressed air and electrical power for main-engine starting and operation of aircraft systems on the ground or in flight. The selected Honeywell avionics systems for Kingfisher’s A320 family, A330 and A340 aircraft include Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS), Airborne Collision Avoidance System (ACAS II), Weather Radar with Forward-Looking Windshear Detection, solid state Flight Data Recorder (FDR) & Cockpit Voice Recorders (CVR), Quantum™ Line Communications & Navigation System (CNS), Flight Management Systems (FMS) and Air Data Inertial Reference System (ADIRS). Kingfisher also selected high speed Satellite Communication System (SATCOM) on its A330 and A340 fleet.
EGPWS, invented by Honeywell, provides a terrain display and alerts the flight crew if the aircraft approaches too close to terrain. Honeywell’s patented ACAS (aka TCAS - Traffic Collision Avoidance System) provides a display of surrounding aircraft and alerts the flight crew if another aircraft comes too close for safety. Honeywell’s radar provides essential weather detection up to 320 nautical miles, turbulence detection up to 40 nautical miles, and forward-looking windshear detection up to 5 nautical miles. FDR & CVR recorders record flight data parameters and cockpit voice conversation for analysis. CNS enables cockpit crew to interact with ground stations such as Air Traffic Controller. ADIRS helps pilots keep the Aircraft on course by sensing its movement in all three dimensions. The all new MCS7200 SATCOM supports on board internet, email, telephone/mobile usage while allowing crew communication in voice and data with ATC and ground teams.
Kingfisher Airlines offers premium first-class service on domestic routes, flying to 34 cities with over 208 daily flights.
